All That She Wants premieres at Toronto with Murphy and Raiff

All That She Wants had its world premiere on Sunday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to Deadline.

The romantic comedy screened in Special Presentations, one of the festival's main sections for new features. It stars Annie Murphy and Cooper Raiff in the lead roles.

Murphy plays Emma, a dancer in her late thirties who wants a baby. Raiff plays Luke, a younger graduate student she meets and begins dating. Then comes the wrinkle.

Emma discovers she once babysat Luke when he was a toddler, when he went by Lukie. That shared past hangs over their present as they try to work out what they want from each other.

The film was directed by Scarlett Bermingham and Andrew Rhymer, from a script by David West Read. Its producers are Tim Headington, Katie Bird Nolan, Theresa Steele Page, Lauren Shelton and Lindsay Tapscott.

The supporting cast includes Finn Wittrock, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, Zosia Mamet and John Gemberling. It was shot entirely in Toronto. That made the premiere a homecoming of sorts, with a Toronto story shown first to a Toronto audience.

Murphy won an Emmy for her work in the comedy series Schitt's Creek. Raiff, identified by the festival with the film Cha Cha Real Smooth, takes the other lead here as Luke.

The Toronto festival hosts an official film page for the title, according to TIFF. On that page, TIFF describes the film as sexy, hilarious, and disarmingly perceptive about long-term entanglements. It also calls it an effervescent, tender-hearted, refreshingly modern spin on the romantic comedy.

The project is from Ley Line Entertainment, as reported in January by Deadline. Festival coverage followed fast after the premiere. Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and IndieWire each published reviews on 14 September.
