Tessa Thompson and Michael Shannon Join Mads Mikkelsen in Last Meals
Tessa Thompson and Michael Shannon have joined Mads Mikkelsen in the prison-kitchen drama "Last Meals", with cameras due to roll this autumn, Variety reported on 14 September 2026.
Boyd Holbrook also stars in the film. The four actors form the central ensemble announced so far.
Mikkelsen plays Walter Karat, a former White House chef now cooking in a maximum security prison. Thompson plays Hannah, an ambitious local food critic, while Shannon plays Governor George Callahan, according to the same report.
The film is directed by Oscar-nominated writer-director Ramin Bahrani. It is based on a screenplay by Justin Piasecki that won the Academy Nicholl award, a leading prize for unproduced scripts.
It is produced by Renée Tab for Sentient Entertainment. Principal photography, the main shoot with the principal cast, is scheduled for autumn.
