Warwick, Mya and Saweetie to release peace anthem on 25 September
Dionne Warwick, Mya and Saweetie will release the anthem "One Heart Can Change the World" on 25 September, timed to the 45th annual International World Peace Day, Billboard.
The song lists Warwick, Mya and Saweetie as its featured artists. It will arrive through Elliott Entertainment and Vydia Distribution, a gamma. company. Distribution is the part of the business that places music with streaming services and shops.
The recording also includes spoken narration from actor Forest Whitaker. Whitaker serves as a United Nations International Good Will Ambassador and oversees the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, known as WPDI, in that work. Violinist Miri Ben-Ari and sound healer Ana Netanel also appear on the track.
The release shares its date with WPDI's "Rise As One" gala. The charity event will take place at Gotham Hall in New York City on 25 September. Warwick, Mya and Saweetie will be honoured there on the night.
"One Heart Can Change the World" is the third release from Warwick's forthcoming DWuets project with songwriter Diane Warren. The first two pairings featured Cynthia Erivo and John Legend respectively. Producer Damon Elliott is producing all of the duets on the set.
DWuets is planned as the final album of Warwick's career. No release date for the full album has been confirmed in the announcement.
The song began life earlier. It was recorded for the film "OZi: Voice of the Forest", Variety with the aim of raising climate change awareness. That earlier version also brought Warwick together with Saweetie and Mya.
For listeners, this means one track will do two jobs. It continues the slow rollout of Warwick's last album while giving the gala a new centrepiece on Peace Day itself.
