Princess Alexandra of Hanover Is Engaged After 10-Year Romance
Princess Alexandra of Hanover is engaged to longtime boyfriend Ben-Sylvester Strautmann.
The princess shared the news herself on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 11. She posted photos with her fiancé and their long-haired dachshund, Eloise.
The pictures put the ring front and center. The caption read “The marriage plot,” followed by yellow heart emojis.
Alexandra, 27, belongs to two well-known families. She is the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Prince Ernst August of Hanover. She is the granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco and the niece of Prince Albert, Monaco’s reigning prince.
She is 13th in line to the Monegasque throne. Monegasque is the word for people and institutions from Monaco, the small principality on the French Riviera.
Strautmann proposed after a decade together. The couple dated for 10 years before the engagement, according to InStyle.
They have stepped out together in Monaco and beyond. They attended the Rose Ball 2024 in Monaco together. Earlier this year, they attended the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics alongside the princess’s uncle.
The ring has drawn much of the attention. It features a 4.8-carat Fancy Yellow diamond flanked by two trillion-cut diamonds, set in 18-carat yellow and white gold, according to Town & Country.
The design came from jeweler Antinori di Sanpietro. Strautmann chose the jeweler himself, Tatler reported. The ring has an estimated value of $203,000.
