Big K.R.I.T. Opens Black August Sessions Performance Series
Big K.R.I.T. has launched the Black August Sessions, a new performance series that debuted its first episode on Monday, Sept. 14. David Banner is also confirmed to take part, according to Billboard.
The premiere stars Big K.R.I.T. He performs “Gotta Do It,” the lead single — the first track released to introduce an album — from his 2025 album Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz.
New episodes land on Wednesdays. That weekly rhythm follows the Monday premiere and sets the release pattern for the rest of the series.
The announced line-up reaches across hip-hop, soul and spoken word. Alongside Big K.R.I.T. and Banner, it includes Deante’ Hitchcock, Sa-Roc, Danielle Ponder, Khujo Goodie and the Dungeon Family.
The Sessions extend a longer-running live event. They build on the annual Black August Hip-Hop Benefit Concert, which was launched in 1998.
Two activist organisations helped get the new series off the ground. The Movement for Black Lives and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement played an integral role in organising it.
For fans, this means a regular watch. Big K.R.I.T.’s YouTube channel lists “Black August Sessions: Big Krit” as a collaboration between the Black August Hip-Hop Project and BIG K.R.I.T., with the episode scheduled for 9:00 AM on September 14, 2026, according to YouTube.
The series arrives with its cast set and its schedule fixed. More performances follow each Wednesday.
