World of Warcraft: Forever will add more than 1,000 new playable quests to classic Azeroth when it is released on 4 November 2026.

The project was announced at BlizzCon. It will be available through an existing World of Warcraft subscription, Blizzard's monthly-paid online fantasy game, so current subscribers will not need a separate base purchase to enter.

Senior game designer Josh Greenfield, also known as Aggrend, set out the scale in an interview about the new quests GameSpot. He said the original game holds around 3,000 to 3,500 actual playable quests once tracking quests are set aside. Tracking quests are background counters used to monitor progress rather than full tasks with story and objectives. Against that total, the Forever addition equals roughly a third of the original offering.

That is a lot of errands. The work is organised across new and old ground.

Forever adds four new zones for players to explore. Each of those zones contains between 50 and 200 quests, which allows for smaller outposts and much larger regions. Blizzard is also expanding existing areas. The Wetlands and Azshara were named as two older zones receiving many new quests.

Quests are the structured jobs that guide players across the map, through dialogue, combat and exploration. Dungeons, another confirmed feature for Forever, are separate enclosed challenges designed for small teams. Progression systems, the rules that govern how characters grow stronger and carry rewards forward, are also being revised to fit the larger world.

Greenfield also spoke at the World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive panel, where he discussed two such systems, Camping and the Legacy System, according to a live report Wowhead. Blizzard lists new dungeons among the Forever features on its official site Blizzard.

There is also a paid bundle for players who want extras. Blizzard is selling a US$80 Warcraft Forever Collection that includes the Skyborne, a new playable character type, access to an early test version of the game before release, and early reservation of character names. Beta access, as that early test period is known, lets buyers play unfinished content and report faults before launch.

For players, this means more choice about where to go next. A thousand extra quests reshape favourite routes without replacing them. Newcomers can follow the fresh zones, while long-term subscribers can revisit the Wetlands or Azshara and find tasks that were not there before.
