Mark Lee will return with a new single titled “My Friend.”

He discussed the song in a Q&A with Billboard Korea, as reported by Billboard. The title is “My Friend.” The conversation centres on where he is now as a solo artist.

The track is mid-tempo, meaning it sits at a steady pace between a ballad and a dance song. It is built around a breezy guitar loop. That loop carries much of the sound.

Lee told Billboard Korea that his new tracks take completely unexpected directions and styles. He did not frame the change as an experiment for its own sake. He said he gained the conviction that this music is what he should put out as his present self.

That sense of timing follows his first move as a solo album artist. Lee released his first solo album, “The Firstfruit,” in 2025. A solo album here means a full-length record released under his own name, separate from any group work.

“The Firstfruit” secured No. 1 on Billboard’s 25 Best K-Pop Albums of 2025: Staff Picks. That list is compiled by Billboard staff, not counted from sales or streams. It sits apart from chart rankings such as the Billboard 200, the weekly chart that ranks albums in the United States.

Lee also spoke about why he wants to keep going. He said he wants to make music for a long time to spread a positive influence through music and life. He put it in plain terms. The aim is duration, not a quick return.

For fans, this means a clear signal of intent. A new single gives listeners one song to carry first. An album asks for a longer stay. Lee is starting with the single, while talking about a much longer career in music.
