Taylor Swift skips Emmys to join Tom Cruise in suite for Chiefs opener

Taylor Swift chose football over awards television on Monday night, Sept. 14, watching husband Travis Kelce open the season for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium.

She sat next to actor Tom Cruise in a suite. The Monday Night Football broadcast showed the pair together during the first quarter, chatting as they followed the game. They shared a hug after a Chiefs touchdown, according to the telecast. Billboard

Swift dressed for the home team. She wore a red-and-white gingham polo dress from Guest in Residence, the label founded by Gigi Hadid. The look was an early favourite with fans tracking her game-day outfits.

The appearance meant Swift missed the Emmy Awards, held the same night. She did not attend in person but still took part. She pre-taped a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit sketch with Mariska Hargitay, who hosted the ceremony.

Swift had reason to watch the awards from afar. Disney+’s Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show entered the night with five nominations, including outstanding variety special (pre-recorded). That prize went to a Muppet Show special starring Sabrina Carpenter.
