Suno has hired Cherry Miao as its first Chief Financial Officer. The AI music company confirmed the appointment after Miao announced it herself.

Miao shared the news in a LinkedIn post on September 14, as reported by Music Business Worldwide on September 15. She said she joined Suno because "Music is one of the things that makes humans human." She added that more than 100 million people have used Suno to make something.

That is a lot of new songs. Miao, as finance chief, will lead money and planning, from budgets and reporting to how subscription income is tracked and spent.

She arrives from Hightouch, a data activation company that helps businesses put customer data to use. She first joined Hightouch as vice-president for finance and data, according to the company, after a career of more than 15 years across finance and data, including work as an investor. She also spent time at Headway and at Accel, and she joined Hightouch from Headway where she had been a customer. Hightouch credited her with extensive experience building strategic finance organisations, the teams that handle forecasting and business planning.

Suno was founded by Mikey Shulman, Martin Camacho and Georg Kucsko. It lets people create songs from written prompts, with a free tier alongside a Pro plan at $10 per month and a Premier plan at $30 per month. It launched its v6 suite of AI music models on September 9.

The money behind it is large. Suno raised more than $400 million in a Series D round in June, a later-stage private funding round, at a $5.4 billion post-money valuation, the price tag placed on the company after new cash lands. That followed a $250 million Series C round in November 2025 that valued the company at $2.45 billion. In February, the company said it had passed 2 million paid subscribers and $300 million in annual recurring revenue, the yearly run-rate from subscriptions.

Miao is the latest in a run of senior hires. Former Merlin CEO Jeremy Sirota joined as Chief Commercial Officer in February. Paul Sinclair joined as Chief Music Officer in July 2025 after more than two decades at Warner Music Group.

What makes this stand out is timing. Suno is adding top finance leadership as paid subscriptions grow and new models ship. A first finance chief usually builds the systems for how a fast-growing company plans, reports and spends.
