Deleted playtest listing fuels rumour NetherRealm is making Injustice 3

A deleted listing for a secret triple-A fighting game has revived rumours that NetherRealm Studios is making Injustice 3.

The studio's next project had not been officially announced at the time of the Eurogamer report, published 15 September 2026. Injustice 3 would be the rumoured third entry in Injustice: Gods Among Us, the studio's fighting series built around DC Comics characters such as Batman and Superman.

The listing came from Good Gamer Group, a firm that runs playtests, early hands-on sessions held under a non-disclosure agreement that bars testers from sharing details. It appeared on the group's website over the weekend before coverage on 14 September 2026, according to Kotaku, and has since been deleted. It called the project an "unreleased AAA 2D fighting game", also described as a "triple-A fighting game" and a "major 2D fighting game". Triple-A is industry shorthand for a big-budget release, while 2D here means fighters face off on a side-view plane.

The test was listed for Culver City, California. Warner Bros. Games, NetherRealm's parent company, is headquartered in the same city. That link has driven much of the guesswork, but neither Warner Bros. Games nor NetherRealm has confirmed the game's identity.

NetherRealm boss Ed Boon said in May the team is "actively pursuing another Mortal Kombat game" while "definitely doing more as well". Mortal Kombat is the studio's long-running fighter, while Injustice uses DC heroes and villains instead. Mortal Kombat 1, released in 2023, followed Mortal Kombat 11 by four years. Mortal Kombat 11 was announced at The Game Awards.

The Injustice talk has other threads. Two voice actors from the first two Injustice games said in 2025 they were returning for Injustice 3, then walked back the statements. Art identified as Injustice 3 appeared on a Warner Bros. Games artist's online resume in April. IGN reported in April 2026 that Injustice 3 is rumoured to be the studio's next fighting game.

For fans, this means waiting for something solid. A playtest listing shows testing is happening somewhere, not what is being tested. Until Warner Bros. Games or NetherRealm names the project, Injustice 3 stays a rumour.
