Witness for the Prosecution names 16th London cast
Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution has named its 16th company in London.
The new cast begins performances on 22 September 2026 at London County Hall. The production is entering its tenth year there, WhatsOnStage reported on 15 September 2026.
Matthew McGivern will play Leonard Vole, the young man at the centre of the trial. Sophie Craig will play Romaine Vole. Jo Stone-Fewings returns as defence barrister Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC.
Crispin Redman joins as solicitor Mr Mayhew. Jude Owusu will play prosecutor Mr Myers QC. David Shaw-Parker will play judge Mr Justice Wainwright.
The rest of the company is Sahar Awad, Philip Battley, William Baylis, Siobhan Bevan, Garon Akbar Clark, Michael Cusick, Anthony Ofoegdu, Sean Paul Jenkinson, Io Munro, Caroline Partridge, Tom Richardson and Tristan Rivelle. Lucy Bailey directs.
The story turns on one charge. Leonard Vole is accused of murdering a widow to inherit her wealth. He must persuade the jury he is innocent to escape the hangman's noose.
What makes this stand out is the room. The play is staged inside the former council chamber at County Hall on the Southbank, with the audience seated around the courtroom action.
The London production first opened in 2017. It was nominated for Best Revival at the 2018 Olivier Awards and WhatsOnStage Awards. Booking has now extended until 19 September 2027.
