Caroline Rose shares two new songs ahead of October album

Caroline Rose has shared two new songs a month out from a new album.

“Hello Again, Jim” and “Calm” were released together, with “Hello Again, Jim” drawn from the upcoming Gentling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall, Rolling Stone reported on Sept. 15. It is a joint release in the middle of an album rollout, the staged period when tracks are shared one or two at a time before the full record arrives.

The album is set for release on Oct. 23 via SUCK Records. That credit names the label putting the record out, the company that handles distribution to shops and streaming services and holds the release paperwork.

“Hello Again, Jim” arrived with its own music video. The clip was directed by Chloé Aktas, whose job covers the look of the video, from casting and staging to the final cut.

Actor Jimmi Simpson appears in the video as a barkeep. His part places a second performer at the centre of the visuals, behind the bar while Rose carries the story. Short castings of this kind are common in music videos, where a familiar face can give viewers a second point of entry.

“Hello Again, Jim” and “Calm” are not the first previews from the project. They follow two earlier album songs, “Chow Mein” and “Yip Yip Now”, which means four tracks will be public before the album lands. For a general listener, that is half the picture in advance and half held back for release day.

Live dates fill the gap between now and release week. Rose will join Modest Mouse for a North American tour, playing in the support slot across the run. That usually means an earlier, shorter set each night in front of the headliner’s audience.

The tour starts Sept. 29 in Madison, Wisconsin, and is organised to end Oct. 22 in Avila Beach, California. The routing runs coast to coast through September and October, with the final support show landing one day before the album date.

For fans, this means a busy few weeks. There are two new songs to hear now, two earlier previews to revisit, shows on the road through to Oct. 22, then the full album on Oct. 23.

What makes this stand out is the timing. The new music, the video and the tour all point to the same late-October week, giving listeners several ways to find the record before it arrives in full.
