Halle Berry, Regina King and Meg Ryan to Jury Through Her Lens
Halle Berry, Regina King and Meg Ryan will choose the next winner of Through Her Lens, the women's filmmaker programme organised by Tribeca Enterprises and Chanel.
The 11th edition will run from Sept. 22-24 in New York City, with the line-up announced on Sept. 16, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The programme backs emerging women and non-binary filmmakers with workshops, one-to-one guidance and production money. New York is its regular home, as listed for this year's edition by Tribeca.
Berry, King and Ryan will sit on the jury. That is the group that picks which project gets made. They are joined by cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw and actor Ella Rubin, completing a five-person panel of actors and craft talent.
A separate group of mentors will work directly with the selected filmmaking teams. The mentors are Past Lives writer-director Celine Song, The Woman King director Gina Prince-Bythewood, producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, playwright and filmmaker Aleshea Harris, and actor Fala Chen. Mentors advise on script, directing and navigating a first production.
The edition will also feature conversation leaders for talks and masterclasses. The list includes singer and actor H.E.R., Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, producer Cassandra Kulukundis, composer Laura Karpman, producer Miyako Bellizzi and producer Riva Marker, according to The Hollywood Reporter. These are open sessions on craft and careers. They sit alongside the closed workshop work.
One team will leave with full financing to make its short film with support from Tribeca Studios. Four other teams will receive development grants, early money used to write, cast or plan a project before full production. That structure gives one green light and four running starts.
What makes this stand out is continuity. Through Her Lens was founded in 2015 by Tribeca and Chanel. Tribeca and Chanel marked its 10th edition with an announcement on Sept. 3, 2025 in New York, according to Tribeca. During the 2026 Tribeca Festival, Teyana Taylor was set to host a talk presented by Through Her Lens, according to Variety. The new jury keeps that chain going into year 11.
