Chanel and Tribeca set jury for 11th Through Her Lens programme
Chanel, the French fashion house, and Tribeca, the New York film organisation, will open the 11th edition of Through Her Lens in New York City on 22 September.
The annual three-day programme supports female and nonbinary filmmakers through workshops, conversations and industry mentorship. Participants are selected through an application process. WWD reported the dates and lineup on 16 September.
Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program was established in 2015. The full name sets out the partnership behind it. Chanel provides support, while Tribeca, best known for its annual Tribeca Festival, runs the filmmaking side.
The structure is simple. Filmmakers take part in sessions and then pitch projects to a jury, the small panel that picks the winner. One team receives full funding to produce a short film, a film well under feature length. Four other projects receive developmental grants from Tribeca Studios, the production arm connected to Tribeca, to help move their ideas forward.
The jury is set. It includes Meg Ryan, Halle Berry, Regina King, Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Ella Rubin. Their decision decides which pitch gets made in full. That choice sits at the centre of the three days.
Mentors will work alongside the group during the programme. The list includes Celine Song, Aleshea Harris, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Fala Chen and Gina Prince-Bythewood. A separate conversations lineup brings in other voices from film and music, including H.E.R., Laura Karpman, Miyako Bellizzi, Patty Jenkins, Cassandra Kulukundis and Riva Marker. Mentorship here means one-to-one guidance on craft and career, while conversations are talks on how work gets made.
Tribeca said in May that submissions for the 2026 cycle were open ahead of a September workshop Tribeca. That early call has now given way to a confirmed jury, mentors and start date. The September timing holds.
What makes this stand out is the ending. Many development schemes close with notes. This one closes with production money and a route to shooting.
The link to the screen is direct. Tribeca previously said Through Her Lens alumna Lara Everly would premiere her short Selah in its 2026 festival lineup Tribeca. For new participants, that is the path on offer. Three days in New York. A pitch. A possible shoot.
