Aesop Rock and Blockhead set November release for Trouble Mountain
Aesop Rock and Blockhead will release Trouble Mountain, their second album as a duo, on 13 November via Rhymesayers. The plan was reported on 16 September, with Rhymesayers named as the label behind the release, according to Pitchfork. It follows Garbology, the pair's 2021 joint album.
The new record runs to 17 tracks. Guest appearances come from Open Mike Eagle and Hanni El Khatib. That is the full confirmed cast so far.
The title comes with a back story. Aesop Rock said he has never skied. He spent many weekends in the Poconos as a child visiting relatives who lived there. He described Trouble Mountain as his and Blockhead's (fake) ski lodge.
Rhymesayers is the independent hip-hop label issuing the album. The 13 November date covers the main release, and the Deluxe Vinyl edition is also listed for 13 November 2026. That edition is on pre-order and is expected to ship during the week of 13 November 2026.
Physical and digital buyers will have several options. Aesop Rock's official site lists Trouble Mountain in Deluxe Vinyl, Vinyl, CD, Cassette and Digital versions, according to Aesop Rock. The listing sits alongside the wider store catalogue of music, vinyl, CDs, merchandise and accessories.
The campaign leans into the ski-lodge idea. The site also lists a Trouble Mountain Giclée Print. Apparel includes a Thriller Crewneck, Thriller Shirt, Get Into Some shirt, Slopes Shirt, Greetings Shirt, I Survived Shirt and Trouble Mountain Zip Hoodie. Accessories include a Pom Pom Beanie, Scarf, Mug, Sticker Pack and a Lift Pass and Digital Download bundle.
For fans, this means a straight continuation of a long working relationship. Garbology was the first Aesop Rock album fully produced by Blockhead. It was due out on 12 November via Rhymesayers when it was announced in 2021. Rhymesayers now lists Aesop Rock x Blockhead Trouble Mountain on its homepage, according to Rhymesayers.
