Sesame Street Turns Chappell Roan's 'Hot to Go!' Into Potty Song
Cookie Monster has a new anthem. Sesame Street released the music video “Got to Go!” on Sept. 16, a parody of Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!”, according to Billboard. On YouTube, the upload is titled “GOT TO GO! Potty Song (HOT TO GO! Parody) | Sesame Street Songs”.
Cookie Monster stars in the clip in a sparkly blue outfit. He is joined by Elmo and Abby Cadabby. The song centres on potty training, with big colourful letters on screen spelling out “P-O-T-T-Y”.
The chorus keeps the spell-it-out hook of Roan’s original. Here the letters point to the bathroom. Short lines. Easy to repeat.
The video is not a one-off. “Got to Go!” is one of seven tracks on Parody Party, a Sesame Street collection released July 26 through Arts Music. The project reworks familiar pop structures into songs aimed at preschoolers and their parents.
Sesame Street previewed the material on YouTube with a compilation titled “Got To Go and MORE Music with Elmo & Friends”. That video opens with “GOT TO GO! (Chappell Roan's HOT TO GO! Parody)” at the 0:00 mark. A second listed segment, “Goin’ For Gold”, starts at 2:23.
The wider album draws on other pop sources. It includes Cookie Monster performing a Bruno Mars hit, as reported by People. Another parody features Abby, Zoe and Rosita in a song about teamwork and friendship, according to Billboard.
For families, this means the new video arrives with plenty of company. The Parody Party set is already out. The “Got to Go!” video gives its potty-training song a visual home.
