Elspeth Sampson wants the campaign for herself — and she could be Reacher's next powerful friend.

Kathleen Robertson, who plays Elspeth in Prime Video's Reacher, told Deadline that her character is "certainly set up" to become a powerful ally for the drifter hero. She was speaking about the Season 4 finale, titled "Cut", in an interview published on 16 September.

The series stars Alan Ritchson as Reacher. Elspeth is the wife of North Carolina congressman John Sampson, played by Marc Blucas. The marriage sits at the centre of the season's closing stretch.

Season 4 connects Washington politics to an old military secret. Reacher links the suicide of a Pentagon employee to a photograph of John Sampson taken during a 1998 military operation in Indonesia. The photo pulls the congressman into the investigation. It also pulls Elspeth closer to Reacher's orbit.

The action peaks just before the finale. In the penultimate episode, John Sampson tackles a chemical bomber into the ocean. It is blunt and public. It cements his image as a man of action.

Then the finale flips the political story. Elspeth reveals she intends to take over her husband's presidential journey. She will not just support the bid. She wants to lead it.

For fans, this changes the shape of any return. Reacher rarely keeps contacts. He moves town to town and leaves people behind. A determined political figure with national ambitions would be a very different kind of ally. Robertson stopped short of confirming anything further. Her words point to where the story could go, not to a confirmed casting.

Robertson brings long television history to the part. She played a major character for four seasons on Beverly Hills, 90210, according to Yahoo. That run made her familiar to a generation of viewers. Reacher uses that familiarity well. Elspeth first reads as a political spouse. She ends the season as a contender in her own right.

Robertson is also adding another broadcast credit. She was cast in a recurring role — meaning she appears in several episodes without joining the full-time main cast — on CBS's Tracker, opposite Justin Hartley and Fiona Rene. Mark Engelhardt was cast in a recurring role at the same time, Deadline reported in December 2025. The casting keeps her across both streaming and network television.

Season 4 of Reacher is available to stream on Prime Video.
