Valor Mortis priced at US$40 ahead of October launch

Valor Mortis will sell for US$40 / €40 when it launches on 13 October 2026.

Developer One More Level confirmed the price in a message posted on X, according to Eurogamer. The studio said the figure was chosen because "this fall is stacked and there's high demand for your time and money."

Forty dollars is low. New console and PC releases often sell for US$69.99. One More Level is positioning its game as a shorter, lower-priced option in a crowded autumn.

The game is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will also be available on Game Pass, Microsoft's subscription service, on PC and Xbox from day one, meaning subscribers can play it with no extra purchase beyond the membership.

Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike, a tough action game built around difficult combat and repeated attempts. It comes from the studio behind Ghostrunner, according to IGN. Players rise from death as a former soldier in Napoleon's army, fighting through a plague-ridden version of eastern Europe.

The October date is a revised date. The game was originally scheduled for 24 September 2026 before moving back by three weeks. When announcing the shift, the team said September had become "absolutely stacked with incredible looking games."

The publisher is Lyrical Games, led by Blake Rochkind. One More Level puts the main story at about 20 hours. A demo is available now on Steam, Valve's PC storefront.

There is also a Deluxe Edition priced at US$60 / €60. It includes the base game, weapon skins and a major story expansion planned for 2027.

For players, this means a straightforward choice. Try the demo, play through subscription, or buy outright at a price below the usual full release.
