Adam Carter Rehmeier to Direct Dark Thriller Seeker
Adam Carter Rehmeier has signed on to direct Seeker, a darkly comedic thriller written by Michael Learner, Deadline reported on 17 September 2026. The directing job means guiding the performances, the look and the pacing from first shot to final cut. The writing credit means Learner created the story and the dialogue that Rehmeier will now bring to the screen.
The story centres on Grant, an Uber driver, a ride-share driver who picks up paying passengers booked through an app, who has never recovered from his fiancée's unexplained disappearance five years earlier. His work keeps him circling the city at night, ferrying strangers in short, intimate trips. During one shift he collects a new passenger and becomes convinced this is the person responsible for what happened to her. The film then stays with the tension of that suspicion in a confined, moving space.
That combination explains the tone described in the announcement. A thriller is designed to build suspense and keep viewers unsure what will happen next. Dark comedy allows sharp, uncomfortable humour to sit inside that suspense without breaking it. Placing both inside a single car gives the actors little room to hide and the audience little room to look away.
The producing line-up stretches across three banners. Alex Lebovici and Learner will produce for Hammerstone Studios, while Adam McKay and Todd Schulman will produce for HyperObject Industries, Deadline reported. Noah Centineo and Enzo Marc will produce for Arkhum Productions. A producer oversees the project day to day, from hiring key heads of department to steering the film through shooting and post-production.
On the business side, Hammerstone Studios is financing Seeker with Script 2 Screen, meaning the two outfits are providing the money required to make the picture. Ibrahim Mohammed, Chase Vergari, Karina Manashil, Alex Kaplunov and David Goldman are attached as executive producers, a senior credit often connected to funding, rights or opening an important door. The announcement did not include casting or a planned release date.
What makes this stand out is the tightness of the idea. One driver with a wound that never closed. One passenger who may hold the answer, locked into the same small space for the length of a fare.
