House of the Dragon star Fabien Frankel and Will Harrison have joined Netflix's The Retrievals.

The project is a limited series, meaning it is designed to tell one closed story across a single season, according to Variety. The latest casting was reported by Deadline.

Frankel will play Ian. Ian is the older brother and protector of Gabby Clemente, the central character played by Emilia Jones.

Harrison will play Victor. Victor is Gabby's high school sweetheart and now her husband.

Gabby is a New Haven bartender and student teacher. Her life is upended by a traumatic egg retrieval surgery.

Jessica Chastain and Amy Ryan are also set for the series. Chastain will play Kaitlyn Langford.

The Retrievals draws on the Peabody-winning New York Times podcast by Susan Burton. It follows IVF patients who take on Yale University after being operated on without anaesthesia because a nurse stole their fentanyl for personal use.

That real-life incident is the engine of the drama. Netflix has described the show as chronicling a disturbing event at a fertility centre, according to its Tudum site.

The series comes from Molly Smith Metzler. She serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer, meaning she leads both the storytelling and the day-to-day production.

It is produced by the production organisations LuckyChap and Quiet Coyote. Lila Neugebauer will direct the pilot, the first episode made.

Frankel is best known as Ser Criston Cole in HBO's House of the Dragon. He also played detective Anthony Grasso in Task.

Harrison appeared as Bobby Neuwirth in A Complete Unknown.

For viewers, this fills in the family around Gabby. Her brother and her husband are now cast, alongside the wider group of patients at the heart of the story.
