Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will take up around 200GB and will not ship entirely on disc at launch.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi gave the estimate in an interview with VGC, as reported by Eurogamer. He said he is "not worried about the scale" of the game. That is a large install by any current measure, and it puts storage at the centre of the story.

Revelation is the third and final part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. The trilogy is a three-game retelling of the 1997 role-playing game, rebuilt with real-time action, voice acting and expanded story scenes. Its launch date is 8 April 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

The size explains the disc plan. A physical disc can only hold so much data, so a game of this size cannot fit on one disc alone. Players who buy the boxed version should still expect to download part of the game from the internet before they can play.

Hamaguchi also confirmed post-launch support. Revelation will receive two bonus DLC packages after release. DLC means downloadable content, extra material that is made available after the main game goes on sale.

The two packages will dig deeper into Vincent and Sephiroth. Hamaguchi said each will be similar in size to Intermission, the extra episode released for Remake, the first game in the trilogy. That points to substantial side stories rather than small add-ons.

The DLC news follows an earlier interview in which Hamaguchi addressed rumours about the grand finale, ties to Advent Children and possible DLC, published by Automaton. Advent Children is the 2005 computer-animated film that continued the story of the original game. That interview provided background to the finale. The latest comments provide firmer detail on size and extras.

For fans, this means some practical housekeeping. Clear space on the drive. Expect a download even with a disc. And expect more story to follow after April.
