Beck releases 'Ride Lonesome' with Tokyo-shot 'Run Away' video
Beck has released his new album 'Ride Lonesome' on 18 September 2026 via Capitol Records.
The launch was paired with a new video for album track 'Run Away'. Universal Music Canada confirmed the album and video were out together.
The 'Run Away' film stars actor Tadanobu Asano. It was shot on location in Japan and follows a journey through Tokyo. It was directed by Mikai Karl, Rolling Stone reported. A day before release, Beck posted about the shoot on Instagram and thanked Asano as the star.
It has been a long wait. 'Ride Lonesome' is Beck's first studio album, a collection of newly recorded songs, in seven years.
Beck has placed the record as the third part of a spiritual trilogy with 'Sea Change' and 'Morning Phase'. By that he means three LPs, long-play full-length albums, linked by sound and mood rather than story. In his own description of the project, he called it a return to the hushed, atmospheric soundscapes of those two earlier records.
The record is short and focused. It has nine tracks. The CD order is 'Ride Lonesome', 'Run Away', 'In The Night', 'Failed Words', 'Bleed', 'Disappearing Act', 'For Your Love', 'Slow Canyon' and 'It Ends Right Here'. His official store offers it as a Standard LP, a Cloud White LP edition and a CD, while his website presents 'Ride Lonesome' as featuring 'Run Away' with a Listen Now option.
Video is part of the rollout. Beck also brought in actor Denis Lavant for the video for 'In the Night', another track from the album. The official site's video section lists 'In The Night' and 'Ride Lonesome' among its featured clips.
Live shows start quickly. Beck will tour in support of 'Ride Lonesome' from 22 September, opening at Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara. The North American run covers 25 dates, DIY reported, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison on 1 October. Ioanna Gika is listed as joining Beck for the 2026 dates.
