Disney has released the full trailer for Coven Academy, a supernatural teen drama that premieres on 1 October on Freeform. Deadline reported the trailer launch on 18 September 2026.

The rollout covers linear television first, then streaming. The series airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Freeform, Disney’s US cable channel, on 1 October. It will be available the day after on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform On Demand.

The story is set in New Orleans. It follows teenage witches and their warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school, organised into fast-paced chapters built for streaming in one go.

At the centre is Briar, played by Malina Pauli Weissman. Briar is a fiercely independent New Yorker who discovers she is a witch. She is joined by Malachi Barton as Jake, a warlock, Jordan Leftwich as Sasha, a student who can read minds, Ora Duplass as Tegan, a time-bending witch, and Louis Thresher as Ollie, a newly turned vampire.

Tiffani Thiessen plays Miss Graves, the head of the school. Devon Sawa guest-stars as Mr. Cole, a warlock professor. The wider cast includes Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese, according to an earlier Disney press announcement.

The series was created by Tim Federle. He also serves as executive producer alongside Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Amanda Row and Bronwyn North-Reist. Federle previously created High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, as noted by Disney+. The show is produced by Chorus Boy Productions in association with Disney Kids & Family.

For viewers, this means two ways to watch in the same week. Catch the opening on Freeform, or wait a day for the full season on streaming.
