FFVII Revelation director says full run could take 100 hours

Seeing everything in Final Fantasy VII Revelation could take up to 100 hours. That figure comes from game director Naoki Hamaguchi, in an interview with Emma Fyffe published on 18 September 2026 GameSpot.
Hamaguchi said he had finished the game 46 times at the time of the interview. He has had practice. A standard playthrough checking every asset and element would easily run past 100 hours, he said.
The 100-hour estimate covers the full sweep. That means the main campaign, side activities and endgame content, the extra challenges and tasks left after the central story ends.
Not every hour is compulsory. Minigames are not essential to the main campaign. Players can also skip cutscenes, the non-playable story sequences.
Revelation is the third part of the FFVII Remake trilogy, a three-game rebuild of the 1997 role-playing game. The first part was Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The second was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
It is scheduled to launch on 8 April 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The PC release will arrive at the same time as console, and will be available via Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC Square Enix. It will be sold in both physical and digital formats.
What makes this stand out is the source of the number. For players, this means the 100 hours is a completionist count from the person who knows the game best, not the time needed just to reach the ending.
