Paramount Sets Crawl Sequel for July 2027, Moves Up Heart Eyes 2

Paramount has set 16 July 2027 for its untitled sequel to Crawl, with Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd to star.
The announcement, reported by Variety on 18 September 2026, plants a horror title in the heart of the summer holidays. Studios favour that corridor for younger audiences out of school. No story details yet. Untitled projects often hold a date while scripts finalise and casting is organised. The formal title usually follows closer to filming.
Alexandre Aja will return to direct. He directed the 2019 original.
Aja will also produce alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi. Gregory Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson and Zainab Azizi take executive producer credits, a senior role that often covers financing, rights or creative oversight rather than daily production.
The script is by Jason Harry Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, with Aja and Levasseur. The studio has not released a title. The writing credit covers two teams working on the same screenplay.
The same slate update shifts Heart Eyes 2. The sequel is now due on 4 February 2028, a week earlier than its previous date of 11 February 2028, according to Variety.
That keeps it just before Valentine's Day. The timing is direct. The first film used the same holiday link.
Paramount is co-producing and co-financing Heart Eyes 2 with Spyglass Media Group and will handle worldwide distribution, which means putting the film into cinemas around the world. Co-financing means sharing the cost of making the film. Co-producing means sharing creative and logistical control. Sony Pictures distributed the first Heart Eyes film.
The first Heart Eyes took US$33 million at the global box office in 2025 against a US$18 million production budget, according to Variety. Budgets here do not include print-and-advertising spend, the marketing cost of releasing a film. Theatre owners also keep a share of ticket money before it returns to the studio, with the split differing in domestic, the United States and Canada, and overseas.
What makes this stand out is the pairing. One date secures summer. The other secures February. Both are quiet promises to cinema owners planning a year ahead.
For fans, this means a wait. Crawl returns first in July 2027. Heart Eyes follows in February 2028. Two horror series, two very different seasons.
