Céline Dion climbs onto car for barefoot Paris sing-along
Céline Dion kicked off her shoes, climbed onto a car and sang with fans on a Paris street on Friday, Sept. 18.
The impromptu sing-along happened outside her hotel after the third show of her Paris concert residency, a run of shows staged in one venue rather than touring city to city. Dion joined the waiting crowd for "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" and sang barefoot from the top of the car, according to video from the night Billboard.
The car was identified as a BMW in a separate report on the night TMZ.
The song choice will be familiar to French-speaking fans. "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" means "so that you'll love me again." It comes from Dion's 1995 French-language album D'eux.
The street performance followed the launch of her 26-night residency at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre on Sept. 12. It is her first extended concert run after stepping back for several years following a diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes muscle stiffness and spasms.
The residency schedule included a show on Saturday, Sept. 19, with performances set to resume on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Dates continue through mid-November, then return for 10 shows in May.
What makes this stand out is how close it was. No stage. No lights. Just a singer on a car bonnet, surrounded by voices singing every word back.
Dion opened the residency with an emotional address to the audience on its first night. Clips of her singing with fans around Paris had already been circulating online in the days after that opening show.
