Bodega doubling video teases CONTROL Resonant ahead of 24 September launch

A 15-second shop video that appears to show a customer doubling has become the latest tease for CONTROL Resonant, four days before its worldwide launch on 24 September.
The clip was recorded on 4 September at 22:11 in a midtown Manhattan bodega, a small corner shop. It lasts 15 seconds. It purportedly shows a male customer's body repeating itself on two separate occasions, according to details reported by Video Games Chronicle.
The shop owner, Ashish Kalia, 32, says the footage is real and that he watched it happen. Kalia contacted police after finding the recording. Individuals identifying as the Federal Bureau of Control, the fictional agency at the centre of Remedy's Control games, arrived about 20 minutes later and seized the video.
In the fiction, the Bureau is a previously secret government department charged with investigating paranatural phenomena, strange events that break natural laws. The leak was attributed to an anonymous source inside that fictional Bureau.
The incident is described as "patterning", a phenomenon in which an object defies gravity or duplicates itself. According to the Bureau's public communications, only buildings and structures are vulnerable to patterning. It says patterning does not affect humans.
The Bureau attributed the distortion in the bodega footage to a recent gas leak. Kalia disputes that account.
The video follows a public information campaign that began in early September, when Bureau posters appeared in cities around the world. The posters warned about paranatural hazards including "the Mold" and "the Hiss", two hostile forces from the games' fiction, and followed a wave of city-wide unexplained disturbances in the story.
Remedy describes Control as a game where, after a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, the player becomes the new Director struggling to regain control. Its follow-up, CONTROL Resonant, is an action-adventure RPG, a game mixing exploration, combat and character progression, in which players explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation, according to Remedy.
CONTROL Resonant was revealed on 12 December 2025, with launch planned in 2026, and new gameplay details were publicised on 13 February 2026. Remedy has announced a worldwide launch on 24 September, priced at US$59.99, as reported by IGN. The studio acknowledged the packed September release window is challenging but said it has a plan.
A story trailer publicised in June focuses on Dylan Faden. In the series fiction, Dylan was corrupted and controlled by the Hiss and imprisoned for years by the Bureau. The trailer shows him taking control.
For players, this means the bodega clip is not a standalone mystery. It is part of a build-up told in the language of the game world, with posters, denials and a leak timed to the final days before launch.
