Ghost's Tobias Forge to Direct as Mylla Films Builds Horror Slate
Ghost frontman Tobias Forge will direct for the first time on horror anthology V/H/S/ Mixtape, as Swedish company Mylla Films sets out its next slate, according to Variety.
Mylla was founded by Midsommar producer Patrik Andersson and NonStop Entertainment chief executive Jakob Abrahamsson. The company launched in Cannes in 2022.
Forge, frontman of Grammy-winning band Ghost, has made a five-and-a-half minute music video segment for the anthology. It stars Gustav Hammarsten and Nour el-Refai. It runs as Forge's directorial debut.
V/H/S/ Mixtape is fully financed in the United States. It will have its world premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, then launch on horror streamer Shudder on Oct. 9. NonStop Entertainment will release the film across the Nordics.
Mylla is also developing Trespassers, titled Inkräktare in Swedish. The project will be pitched to potential co-financiers, partners who share the cost of a production, at the Finnish Film Affair, according to Variety. That event links Nordic films with funders and distributors.
A third project hands a first directing job to production designer Henrik Svensson, whose credits include Midsommar and Sick of Myself. His low-budget film The End is fully financed with private equity, money raised outside the studio system, and stars Mattias Ribbing. Stunts were designed by Eos Karlsson of Kung Fury. Mylla is eyeing a genre festival launch in spring 2027.
The company's first fiction feature, Bloodsuckers, is set to reach screens in early 2027 through NonStop Entertainment. Charades is handling international sales, selling distribution rights territory by territory, as reported by Variety.
What makes this stand out is the route into film. Forge arrives with a built-in music audience. Svensson arrives from design. Mylla is backing both at short and low-budget scale before moving to larger co-financed titles.
