Precious Metal and Black Fawn line up three-film genre slate
Three new genre films are on the way from a team-up between Precious Metal Productions and Black Fawn Distribution.
The two Canadian companies have agreed a three-picture slate deal, according to Deadline. The news was reported on 14 September 2026. A slate deal means the partners plan several films together from the start, rather than negotiating title by title.
Precious Metal is headed by co-founders Christopher Giroux and Ann Pirvu. The pair officially launched the company in January. That makes the Black Fawn pact an early and defining step for the young outfit, locking in a distribution partner for its first run of projects.
The opening film will be a horror feature. Giroux will direct. He co-wrote the original screenplay with Pirvu, so the story is a fresh creation rather than an adaptation or sequel.
That first production is slated to begin in early 2027, according to Deadline. A start date that far ahead is normal in independent film. It leaves room for final casting, crew hires, location work and financing to close before cameras roll.
Two more genre pictures will follow under the same agreement. Details of those later titles, including writers, directors and shoot dates, have not been disclosed.
On the other side of the table is Black Fawn Distribution. It operates as a subsidiary of Black Fawn Films, which means it shares ownership and management with the larger production business. Black Fawn Films is the company of horror film-makers Chad Archibald and Cody Calahan, names well known to fans of low-budget scares.
For horror fans, this means a steady flow of new titles to watch for. Independent horror lives on tight budgets, fast shoots and loyal audiences, and a three-film promise gives both sides room to plan.
What makes this stand out is the structure. A single-film deal can fall apart if one project stalls. A three-picture commitment spreads that risk and keeps writers, directors and distributors working together over several years.
