NBC's Line of Fire arrives tonight with a family on every side of the law
NBC has a new family at the centre of its Monday night schedule as Line of Fire premieres tonight.
The drama starts Monday, 21 September 2026, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, taking the late slot on the broadcast network's fall line-up Good Housekeeping.
NBC describes the show as a family drama-meets-political thriller. It is a procedural, meaning it follows law enforcement cases week to week, about a family of agents contending with their own secrets Variety.
The series comes from Joshua Safran, the creator of Quantico, who serves as writer and executive producer. NBC credits the show to Safran and Jenna Bush Hager of TODAY. It is loosely based on Hager's experiences with the United States Secret Service, according to Variety's review.
Peter Krause stars as Secret Service Agent Mike Hollingsworth. Hope Davis plays U.S. Marshal Jane Hollingsworth, his estranged wife. They are separated. Work keeps pulling them back together.
Their children all work inside the system too. Tommy O'Brien plays Secret Service Agent Mike "Micah" Hollingsworth Jr. Kat Cunning plays FBI Agent Clare Hollingsworth. Taylor Bloom plays DOJ analyst Russ Hollingsworth, with DOJ meaning the Department of Justice.
The wider story reaches the White House. Savannah Lee Smith plays Sydney, the president's college-age daughter. The first season opens in Crozet, Virginia.
The first season runs for 10 episodes. Two episodes were made available for review ahead of launch.
Line of Fire was ordered to series, meaning NBC commissioned a full first season for its 2026-2027 broadcast season, the September-to-May schedule the American networks still programme around. The order was announced in May alongside a reboot of The Rockford Files Variety. The project was formerly titled Protection.
