Peter Krause Returns to NBC in Line of Fire After 9-1-1 Farewell
Peter Krause is back on Monday-night network television as Secret Service agent Mike Hollingsworth in NBC drama Line of Fire.
The series premiered on 21 September at 10/9c, taking the 10 p.m. ET slot on Mondays. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock, according to NBC, and are also available on NBC.com and the NBC App.
NBC describes Line of Fire as a family drama-thriller. The story is centred on a family of federal agents trying to balance duty to the country and duty to each other.
The show was created by Joshua Safran. Jenna Bush Hager serves as an executive producer, meaning a senior figure who helps oversee the series creatively and financially, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The cast around Krause is largely a family affair on screen. Hope Davis plays Jane, a U.S. Marshal and the estranged wife of Hollingsworth. Kat Cunning plays FBI agent Clare, Tommy O’Brien plays Secret Service agent Micah, Taylor Bloom plays Department of Justice analyst Russell, and Campbell Scott plays Senator Terry Cross.
For viewers, this means a familiar face in a new uniform. Krause spent eight seasons on 9-1-1 as fire captain Bobby Nash before the character was killed off. Bobby sacrifices his own life to save members of his crew and shares a final moment with his wife, LAPD Sgt. Athena Grant.
He did not plan it. Krause has said he did not intend to jump straight into another series after 9-1-1, according to USA Today. He told TheWrap he is still betting on broadcast television with the new NBC show, and he discussed his 9-1-1 exit at length for the first time in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter about Line of Fire.
That exit hit hard. Krause said he loved playing Bobby Nash and found the departure difficult. “I’ve heard that many fans are upset by this loss and they have a right to be. It is a loss,” he said.
The run was long. Krause landed his first TV role in 1990 opposite Carol Burnett in Carol & Company. He has appeared on TV every year since, except for 1993.
What makes this stand out is the speed of the turnaround. One beloved captain is gone. A Secret Service agent with a complicated family starts work the next season.
