Two sister labels are making something together.

525 America and Derek Lam 10 Crosby, both held in the portfolio of NYC Alliance, the apparel group, have teamed up for a limited-edition collaboration. That means a small run, made once and sold for a short period.

The 525 America x Derek Lam 10 Crosby collection opened for preorder on 22 September. Preorder lets shoppers reserve now for delivery later, which helps a label gauge demand before it ships. Orders are scheduled to ship on 7 October, according to WWD.

You cannot find it everywhere. The range is available exclusively at 525america.com and select retail locations. That is the brand's own website plus a small list of chosen shops. In industry terms, the first route is direct-to-consumer, selling straight to shoppers, while the second is wholesale, selling to shops that resell.

Prices run from US$149 to US$299. That puts the collection in the accessible designer bracket, above high-street prices but below luxury. The price was reported by the retailer through the launch announcement.

The pairing is possible because the two labels share an owner. NYC Alliance acquired Derek Lam 10 Crosby and brought it into the same stable as 525 America. Sister labels often share back-office support such as production and sales while keeping separate design identities.

NYC Alliance runs a mixed portfolio through one organisation. It also includes 89th & Madison, the apparel label, and holds Juicy Couture under licence, which means it produces and sells that brand under agreement with the owner, according to Fashionista. That structure is common in fashion, where one group manages several names at different prices and in different shops.

Shoppers may know a similar name. Public Clothing, the apparel company, retains the main Derek Lam brand. That line is separate from Derek Lam 10 Crosby and continues under creative director Robert Rodriguez, the designer who leads its collections.

For fans, this means a tight window and a narrow door. Order through the preorder, wait for the October shipment, and expect limited sizes and styles. Once this kind of run sells through, it is gone.
