Derek Lam Returns to 10 Crosby as Creative Director

Derek Lam is returning as creative director of Derek Lam 10 Crosby, the label he founded.
He will lead the creative direction as the brand relaunches under NYC Alliance, which acquired it in May. His new direction will be introduced for fall 2027 selling, WWD reported.
The move divides the two Lam labels. Public Clothing, which owns the main Derek Lam line, keeps that brand. It continues to be designed by creative director Robert Rodriguez. 10 Crosby will run separately as a contemporary line under NYC Alliance.
It will stay contemporary, the mid-priced designer section between luxury and the high street. It will be sold by wholesale, selling to shops that resell, as against direct-to-consumer. The stockists will be department and speciality stores.
Lam left 10 Crosby and moved full-time to Paris about three years ago. He then became creative director of Callas Milano, the Italian label launched in 2020 by Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, Lam's husband, and Marco Panzeri, chief executive officer of Italian manufacturer Cieffe.
He will keep a role there. Lam will continue consulting for Callas Milano as creative director. He plans to go back and forth between Paris and New York.
The labels have changed hands and designers in recent years. Kate Wallace served as creative director of 10 Crosby for its pre-fall 2024 collection, the between-seasons range shown ahead of the main calendar. Robert Rodriguez was later put in charge of both the main collection and 10 Crosby, and the main Derek Lam Collection returned to New York Fashion Week under his direction, FashionNetwork reported.
That relaunched main line was aimed at advanced contemporary, a step above contemporary, with prices from USD 295 to USD 1,295. Earlier in September, 10 Crosby teamed with 525 America, the American knitwear company, on a collaboration.
What makes this stand out is the founder coming back. For shoppers, this means the next 10 Crosby collection with Lam's name on the design credits will not arrive in stores for more than a year.
