Rachel Zegler's Evita transfers to Broadway with London stars

Rachel Zegler will return as Eva Perón when Jamie Lloyd's Evita transfers to Broadway.

A transfer, meaning the production moves from its original venue to another theatre, was confirmed with full casting on 22 September 2026. Zegler won an Olivier Award and a WhatsOnStage Award for playing Eva in London WhatsOnStage.

The Broadway run will play the Winter Garden Theatre. Previews, the first public performances before the official opening, begin on 27 February 2027. Opening night is scheduled for 25 March 2027.

Diego Rodriguez will play Che. James Olivas will make his Broadway debut as Juan Perón. Ángel Lozada will play Agustín Magaldi.

Bella Brown will also transfer with the production. In London, she played The Mistress and served as alternate Eva Perón. She received a WhatsOnStage Award nomination for that performance.

Brown will perform as Eva Perón at certain performances during the Broadway run. Further details of that schedule have not been announced.

Lloyd's production ran at the London Palladium from June to September 2025. It closed its limited run on 6 September. In London, Zegler sang 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina' live from the Palladium's exterior balcony to crowds in the street below.

That balcony staging will not be replicated on Broadway. The Winter Garden does not have the same street-facing playing space.

For fans, this means a different show in one key respect. The London balcony number drew large crowds outside the Palladium. New York will see the production inside the house.

The musical is by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber Playbill. It is produced on Broadway by Jamie Lloyd for the Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals by arrangement with LW Entertainment.

Evita last appeared on Broadway in 2012. That revival starred Elena Roger and Ricky Martin. Tickets for the 2027 run are now on sale Broadway.com.
