Verve signs BookTok author Quan Millz for film and TV push
Verve has signed self-published author Quan Millz for representation, with a plan to grow his catalogue and audience across publishing, film, television and beyond, as reported by Variety.
Representation here means the agency will seek out and negotiate deals on his behalf. Millz will continue to be represented by attorney Nancy C. Prager alongside the Verve team.
Millz has built his name on BookTok, the corner of TikTok where readers swap recommendations and reviews. He has more than 1.2 million followers and 37.3 million likes on the platform, and his posts reached more than 300 million users in the past 12 months, according to Variety.
He works outside the traditional publishing system. Millz has self-published more than 70 books and built a multimillion-dollar business from them.
The titles are blunt and built to stop a scroll. They include "My Psycho Baby Daddy," "The Coldest Thug Ever," "Pregnant By My Mother's Gay Husband," "My Pastor Got A Stripper Pregnant," "This Hoe Got Roaches In Her Crib" and "Knocked Up By An AI Love Doll From Hell."
Millz describes "Old Thot Next Door" as a "ratchet psychological thriller / urban erotic psychological thriller." His covers have travelled further than books usually do. Singer Lizzo recreated several of them for Halloween, according to Variety.
What makes this stand out is the route to the screen. No major publisher, no slow build. Just direct publishing, viral clips and an audience that already knows the characters by name.
