William and Kate Join Tom Cruise at Digger Premiere

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales attended the global premiere of 'Digger' at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, London, on September 22, 2026. The screening was a Royal Film Performance in aid of the Film and TV Charity, the industry charity that supports people working in film, television and cinema. Kensington Palace had announced in advance that the Prince and Princess of Wales would attend the Leicester Square world premiere, as reported by HELLO! Magazine.
Tom Cruise, who stars in the film, met them on the red carpet. It was a reunion. The couple had been expected to reunite with Cruise at the London premiere, an encounter first trailed earlier in September.
Cruise spoke warmly about his royal guests on the night. "I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them," he said.
Catherine wore a floor-length gown in jewel-toned purple by British designer Jenny Packham. The dress featured sheer balloon sleeves and a train that followed her along the carpet. She paired it with the Queen Mother's Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, a long jewelled necklace worn low over the bodice. William wore a velvet suit jacket for the evening.
Filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu attended the premiere and spoke with William, Catherine and Cruise together. 'Digger' is a satire from Iñárritu starring Cruise, as described by Screen Daily. The film is set for a short hop from red carpet to cinema release. Its official trailer advertises the launch as "Only in theaters October 2," according to the trailer listing.
What makes this stand out is the blend on one carpet. A working royal engagement doubled as a charity fundraiser and a Hollywood opening night, with the principal star, the director and the royal guests photographed in conversation. For fans, this means a first full look at the Waleses with Cruise and Iñárritu together, a close view of Catherine's purple Packham gown and historic amethyst necklace, and just days to wait before 'Digger' reaches cinemas.
