Chvrches return with 'Roses', their first new song in three years

Chvrches are back. The Scottish trio released 'Roses' on 22 September, their first new song in three years, with an accompanying music video.
The track comes from Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook, Rolling Stone reported. It is being released via Futures, according to Pitchfork.
'Roses' reflects on the political state of Britain. Its chorus interpolates 'Ring a Ring o' Roses' — that is, it reworks part of the old English folk song and nursery rhyme into new writing.
The release ends a break in group activity. Chvrches' last album, 'Screen Violence', came out in 2021. In 2023 Mayberry said she was stepping away to pursue a solo career, then released her solo album 'Vicious Creature' in December 2024 and toured in support of it in 2025.
Live dates are already set. The band has scheduled charity shows in Glasgow on 26 October and in London on 29 October. The group also premiered another new song, 'Conman', during a show at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
For fans, this means new music to hear right away. The band has published an Official Lyric Video for 'Roses' on YouTube, and said the single is out everywhere now.
