Chvrches are back with “Roses,” their first new song in three years. The single is out now via Futures.

The Glasgow trio confirmed the release on 22 September, with Pitchfork reporting it as the start of a new era for the band. It is their first proper release since the 2021 album Screen Violence. In the gap, singer Lauren Mayberry put out a solo album.

“Roses” did not come completely out of the blue. Chvrches had already played together for the first time in nearly three years at the Royal Albert Hall in March. During that set, they tried out another unreleased song, “Conman,” according to Rolling Stone.

Now the rollout is moving quickly. The band will play two underplay shows — smaller, intimate gigs in venues well below the size they would normally headline — in Glasgow on 26 October and London on 29 October. The exact venues have not been named.

Proceeds from both nights will go to charity. Further details on the beneficiaries, ticket sales and prices have not yet been confirmed.

For fans, this means a quick chance to hear the new material up close. A band that last toured an album cycle three years ago is choosing small rooms first, before whatever comes next.
