They Are Gutting a Body of Water will release a 29-song mixtape, Kool Faith / Loosies II, digitally on October 16 and physically on November 20 via ATO/Julia's War.

The Philadelphia band, who play shoegaze, the guitar-heavy style built around loud, hazy textures, confirmed the project alongside three new songs, according to Pitchfork. The physical edition arrives about a month after the digital release.

The three tracks out now are "Kool Marder" featuring Cashier, "The Rook" and "Free Willy." They give an early taste of a mixtape, a looser collection than a formal studio album, that runs to almost 30 tracks.

Guests run right through the tracklist. Track three, "Rodman," features Hotline TNT. Track six, "My Happening," features Spirit of the Beehive. Track 15, "Yellow Dolphins," brings together Cooking, RXKNephew, FearDorian and Izzy Camina.

Other collaborators named on the project include Greg Mendez, Horse Jumper of Love, FearDorian, Full Body 2 and LUCY (Cooper B. Handy), alongside RXK Nephew. The list points to close ties with other independent guitar bands and rappers.

Kool Faith / Loosies II follows Lotto, the band's most recent album, released last October. That record came out less than a year before the digital date for the new mixtape.

The band will support the release with a headlining tour of the United States running through to December. Dates cover the period after the digital and physical releases.

For fans, this means a lot of new music at once, plus live shows before the end of the year. Twenty-nine songs is a full evening of listening. Three are available now, with the rest to follow in October and November.
