Eight Sleep Pod 6 Is Smaller, Faster, and Adds a Solo Option

Eight Sleep introduced the Pod 6 on September 23, 2026, a mattress cover that heats, cools, tracks sleep and adjusts each side of the bed separately with built-in body sensors. Solo sizes for one person were added alongside standard sizes for two sleepers. It went on sale the same day. Business Wire

The hardware is smaller and faster than the last generation. The footprint is 50% smaller. Temperature changes on either side are 20% faster. One Hub powers both sleepers and is built to fit under most bed frames. TechCrunch

Each side can be set from 12°C to 43°C independently, with zero impact on the other side, according to the company. The Pod 6 uses a redesigned thermal engine meant to help with hot flashes, night sweats or chills. It also offers custom elevation adjustment and snoring reduction. It works with any mattress. Sleep tracking needs no wearable device, such as a watch or ring.

Pod 6 has 9x more sensors than the previous generation. The higher resolution supports sleep and health tracking without a wearable for two sleepers. It can also filter out extra movement from a pet or child sharing the bed. That filtering is difficult because in a shared bed, motion, heart rate and breathing signals from different bodies overlap.

The Pod 6 Solo is the first Eight Sleep model with one temperature zone instead of two. Bloomberg It comes in four sizes. The Solo Twin measures 38 x 75 inches and fits a Twin mattress. The Solo Queen measures 30 x 80 inches and fits one side of a Queen mattress. Solo versions also cover Twin XL mattresses in the U.S. and, more broadly, fit a Twin bed and one side of Queen, King and California King beds. In Europe, Solo sizes fit an EU Single bed or one side of an EU Super King bed.

Standard sizes come in Queen, King and California King. In the U.S., pricing starts at $1,999 for Solo sizes and $2,699 for standard sizes. In the EU, pricing starts at €2,199. The Pod 6 is sold in over 37 countries. For reference, the company lists Pod AC as cooling to as low as 55°F and heating to as high as 110°F.

Beyond the hardware, Eight Sleep raised $50 million from Tether at a $1.5 billion valuation earlier in 2026. CEO Matteo Franceschetti said international markets account for over 30% of revenue. The company had neared $1 billion in Pod sales at the time of the Pod 6 debut. It is seeking FDA approval to turn the Pod into a regulated medical device for sleep apnea in the U.S.

The broader context here is architectural rather than only smaller hardware. A smaller Hub, single-Hub operation for two zones, faster thermal response and a higher sensor count allow tighter closed-loop control, where sensing feeds directly into heating and cooling. Solo single-zone models lower the entry price and fit households where only one sleeper wants active temperature control.

In my view, the longer development to watch is medical use. Consumer sleep systems have added heart and breathing tracking plus features such as elevation and heat control. An FDA path for sleep apnea would test whether those sensors and controls can meet clinical standards for accuracy and reliability over time. If they can, the bed could support more continuous care at home, which would expand what a mattress cover can do.
