Blond:ish has her first Billboard No. 1. “Lovers on the Dancefloor” featuring Kurtis Wells rises to the top of the Dance Airplay chart dated Sept. 26. It climbs one place from No. 2 to take the lead, Billboard reported.

Dance Airplay ranks songs by plays on dance radio stations in the United States. The new leader earned a 33% increase in plays during the Sept. 11-17 tracking week, according to tracking service Luminate. It moved fast. That jump in spins was enough to carry it to No. 1.

The song was released on June 12 via Maison Arts. It made its debut on Dance Airplay in July, about a month after release. It is only Blond:ish’s second entry on that chart, which makes the climb to the top a short one.

The first Dance Airplay appearance came with “Never Walk Alone” with Stevie Appleton. That collaboration peaked at No. 2 in April 2025, one step short of the summit. Blond:ish had earlier appeared on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, the chart that blends streams, sales and airplay, when “Sorry” with Eran Hersh, Darmon and Madonna reached No. 39 in 2023.

For Wells, the story is even simpler. He sings on “Lovers on the Dancefloor”. The track is his first appearance on any Billboard chart. It is also his first No. 1, achieved on his very first try.

The single is a first for the label behind it as well. Maison Arts, a Los Angeles-based boutique label and publishing company, earns its first Billboard No. 1 with the release. Independent labels compete for airplay against the three majors, Universal, Sony and Warner, so a chart-topper of this kind carries real weight for staff, artists and future signings.

Blond:ish arrived at this point with a busy CV in dance music. She produced an official remix of Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” in 2024. She also became Pacha Ibiza’s first female headline resident DJ, a booking at one of the island’s best known clubs.

The rest of the Dance Airplay top five shows how tight the race was. Jex sits at No. 2 with “Silver Lining”, just behind the new leader. James Hype follows at No. 3 with “Seratonin”, while Madonna is at No. 4 with “Danceteria”. On the WARM Global Dance Radio chart, which tracks dance plays on radio worldwide, “Lovers on the Dancefloor” rose from No. 22 to No. 16.

For fans, this means one thing. Expect to hear a new favourite on dance radio far more often.
