UK, Argentina and India land double nominations at 2026 International Emmys
The United Kingdom, Argentina and India have each scored twice in the top TV races at the 2026 International Emmy Awards, landing one nomination in Drama Series and one in Comedy Series.
The nominations, reported by Deadline, set up a wide-open contest ahead of the gala on Monday, November 23, in Manhattan. The International Emmys honour television made outside the United States.
In drama, the four nominees are A Thousand Blows from the United Kingdom, Carême from France, Menem from Argentina and Real Kashmir Football Club from India. It is a tight field. Four shows, four countries.
Comedy looks just as spread out. The nominees are División Palermo – Season 2 (Community Squad) from Argentina, Man vs Baby from the United Kingdom, Old Dog, New Tricks from Spain and Vir Das: Fool Volume from India.
One of the British drama contenders arrives with heavyweight backing. A Thousand Blows was produced by The Story Collective / Matriarch Productions / Water & Power Productions for Disney+, according to the International Academy's nominees announcement.
Beyond the two series categories, this year's race is broad. Twenty-two nations are represented across 16 categories: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Türkiye and the UK.
Winners will be revealed at the 54th International Emmy Awards Gala on November 23, 2026 in New York City. The Academy lists the event from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on that date, according to its event page. The Academy has also named Gerhard Zeiler as the recipient of the 2026 International Emmy Directorate Award, a prize for leadership in global television.
What makes this stand out is the balance. No single country dominates the Drama and Comedy shortlists. For fans, this means four very different dramas and four very different comedies will walk into the room in November, and only two will walk out with trophies.
