UK leads International Emmy nominations with 15 nods
The U.K. is out front in the race for the 54th International Emmy Awards. British programmes earned 15 nominations from a field of 64 nominees across 16 categories and 22 countries, with winners to be named on Nov. 23 in New York City, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
The nominations were announced on Sept. 23. Brazil followed the U.K. with nine nominations, while Spain collected four nominations in the annual contest for television from around the world.
The best drama series contest is a four-way fight. A Thousand Blows from the U.K. is nominated alongside Apple TV+’s French-language drama Careme, Menem and Real Kashmir Football Club from India.
Comedy is just as spread out. Netflix’s Man Vs Baby carries the U.K. flag in the category, with Spain’s Old Dog, New Tricks, Argentina’s Division Palermo for its second season, and India’s Vir Das: Fool Volume also nominated.
Argentina, Belgium and Brazil are among the countries represented across the 16 categories, according to the International Academy’s announcement, International Academy. That breadth covers scripted series, comedy, documentaries and entertainment formats made for local audiences and global streamers alike.
Separately, media executive Gerhard Zeiler will receive the 2026 International Emmy Directorate Award, which honours leadership in international television, according to the Academy, International Academy.
What makes this stand out is the mix. Big streamer commissions sit next to local stories. For viewers, this means a ready-made watchlist before the November ceremony.
