Pinkchyu Feels Like a Princess in Drake's Princess Video
Pinkchyu says starring opposite Drake in his “Princess” video made her feel like the real thing. “I felt like a princess. I actually felt like a princess,” she told TMZ on Sept. 22. She also said plans for Drake to buy a house for her mother so she can retire are already moving.
Asked where she and Drake stand, she did not give a straight answer. She kept the reply coy, sidestepping a label for the relationship, according to TMZ. The vagueness has left followers to read between the lines.
The two first met on Drake’s 20-versus-1 speed-dating contest, a filmed format in which 20 contestants compete for the attention of one person. Pinkchyu won that contest as his “wife.” The appearance made her name familiar to his audience. It also set up their on-screen chemistry.
They reunited for FOMO, Drake’s short film that doubles as the music video for “Princess,” according to Billboard. The visual sends them on a shopping date to Hot Topic, the US retail chain known for band T-shirts and alternative fashion, before they rent out Medieval Times, the dinner theatre chain known for staged knight fights and feasts. Drake matches the mood with dark, goth-inspired styling, a look he had shown off earlier in September. Pinkchyu described the shoot in warm terms, saying the treatment made her feel looked after.
That styling did not come out of nowhere. Drake had shown off a goth makeover earlier in September, as reported by AOL. The change gave fans something to talk about before the video arrived. It now carries straight into the world of “Princess.”
Pinkchyu also spoke about her background and family during the chat. She said she is Latina and her family is Mexican. On the question of a house for her mother, she said a purchase is “in the works” and is “in the process of getting that situated.” The goal, she said, is to allow her mother to retire.
