Konami adds Leagues mode to eFootball Kick-Off on Switch 2
Konami has released a major free update for eFootball Kick-Off on Nintendo Switch 2, landing the day before EA Sports FC 27 goes on sale, according to Video Games Chronicle.
Kick-Off is a separate paid game from Konami's free-to-play eFootball. It is built mainly for single-player, with local and online multiplayer alongside it, and is priced at £15.99 / US$19.99. The free-to-play eFootball is available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile, with no Switch 2 port.
The headline addition is Leagues mode. It brings 25 leagues set across Europe, South America and Asia-Oceania. Players pick a club and play a full season with the aim of finishing top of the table.
The mode can be played solo or in co-op. Up to four players can guide the same team through a season together. Short seasons, shared blame.
The update also adds 13 legendary players to World Tour mode. They are acquired with currency collected from playing matches, rather than through paid packs. Named among the new arrivals are Fernando Torres, Keisuke Honda and Gerard Piqué.
World Tour was part of Kick-Off at launch. In that mode, defeating a club side lets you transfer one of that club's players into your own squad. The new legends extend that pool of targets for long-term squad building.
Kick-Off also launched with an International Cup mode. It uses the same groups as the FIFA World Cup 2026. That gives Switch 2 owners a tournament structure that mirrors the real finals taking place across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Konami had flagged the plan in advance. Its Tokyo Game Show page said a free update scheduled for this fall would introduce the League mode. The release on 24 September 2026 delivers on that promise.
The wider eFootball operation continues in parallel. The free-to-play game offers Authentic Team, which uses real clubs and national teams, and Dream Team, where players build an original side from active stars or legends. Its August update added a Custom Tournament mode, advanced tactical systems and special login rewards.
What makes this stand out is choice at the start of the football season. Switch 2 players get a season mode and new legends inside a £15.99 / US$19.99 game, just as the annual EA Sports launch arrives elsewhere. For anyone who plays on Nintendo's new hardware, there is now a fuller single-player alternative in place.
