Xbox players who clear every goal in a game now get one final celebration.

Xbox has introduced Mythic Achievements, a new top tier awarded only after a player has earned every other Achievement in a game, as reported by GameSpot on 24 September 2026. Achievements are small in-game challenges set by developers, such as finishing a chapter, winning a tough fight or tracking down a well hidden secret. The Mythic sits above the lot, reserved for the full sweep.

The idea will feel familiar to anyone who has played on a rival console. PlayStation has long offered a platinum trophy, a single prize that marks a complete run through a game's list. Xbox never had a direct equivalent for its own system, even though hunting down every last Achievement has been part of its culture for years. The Mythic closes that gap and gives completionists a clear badge to chase.

The payoff is loud. Unlocking a Mythic sets off an animation with a matching sound effect that runs for almost 15 seconds. That is an eternity in menu time, where most pop-ups appear and vanish in a couple of seconds. It is built to be watched, not clicked past. Fifteen seconds. No skipping the applause.

It will not lift your total. Mythic Achievements are worth zero Gamerscore, the points tally that builds up on an Xbox profile with each normal unlock. They are also tracked separately from regular Achievements, so the main list and its maths stay untouched. In plain terms, your score does not move, but your profile shows something extra.

That separation matters for how players keep score. Regular Achievements remain the working record of progress, game by game, point by point. The Mythic acts more like a seal on the collection, proof that nothing was left undone. For collectors who love a tidy shelf, that distinction keeps the old system intact while adding a new favourite to show off.

The arrival follows a tease from Xbox leadership. Chief executive Asha Sharma hinted at the rollout of Mythic Achievements in August. No large launch event followed, and the feature has instead slipped out as a quiet upgrade to the platform. The long build-up was short. The fanfare itself is long.

For fans, this means the hardest grind finally gets its own moment. Committed hunters get bragging rights that are easy to spot. Casual players get a clearer signal of what a full clear looks like. And everyone who gets there receives almost 15 seconds to enjoy it.
