Complete every challenge in a game and Xbox will now give you one last prize.

Microsoft has announced Xbox Mythic Achievements, a new award that unlocks once a player has earned all other Achievements in a game. Achievements are the in-game goals that track progress, from finishing a story to finding secrets. The feature is rolling out now to Xbox Insiders, the test group who try system updates early, as part of the October 2026 console features update announced on 29 September. Xbox

The rule is simple. Earn the full base set and the Mythic unlocks. Extra goals added later through paid expansions, labelled as "add-on" Achievements, do not block it. That means players do not need to buy downloadable content, known as DLC, to finish the set. Eurogamer

It also works backwards. Mythic Achievements are awarded retroactively, including for games dating back to the Xbox 360 era. Long-time players may find Mythics waiting when they next sign in.

Xbox is also adding a new Gaming tab to player profiles. It organises Achievement-hunting progress in one place, alongside Mythic Achievements. The company had earlier refreshed achievement notifications with a new look, including updated icons and animations for classic and rare unlocks, in an update published on 8 April.

The launch follows a tease from Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma. She said earlier in September that Xbox would get an equivalent to PlayStation's platinum trophy later this year, according to a report published on 23 September. Testing of Mythic Achievements then began weeks later. The Verge

For players, this means completion finally has a full stop. No extra purchase required. Just the base game, finished properly.
