Hadestown unveils photos of new West End company at the Lyric
Hadestown has released production photos and a trailer for its new West End company at the Lyric Theatre.
The images and video footage arrived after the new principals began performances on 15 September, according to the producers. The release was reported on 24 September by WhatsOnStage.
The five central roles are now played by Nathan Sykes as Orpheus, Fayth Ifil as Eurydice, Shaun Dooley as Hades, Danielle de Niese as Persephone and Malinda Parris as Hermes. Sykes is known outside theatre as a member of the band The Wanted.
The Fates, the three voices who shadow the lovers, are played by Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae. The Workers ensemble features Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Seet.
Covering the company are five swings, meaning performers who understudy several different parts. They are Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and Milly Willows.
The show retells two linked Greek myths: the musician Orpheus travelling to the underworld to rescue Eurydice, and the strained marriage of Hades and Persephone. Music, lyrics and book are by Anaïs Mitchell. Rachel Chavkin directs.
Hadestown is a Tony Award-winning and Grammy Award-winning musical, as noted by BroadwayWorld. The London production passed its 1,000th West End performance in the week the new cast was announced in July, according to West End Theatre.
There is more in motion around the show. In 2025, members of the original Broadway cast reunited in London for a limited season. Three of those performances were filmed for a live recording.
That filmed version is titled Hadestown: The Musical. It features André de Shields as Hermes, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone and Patrick Page as Hades.
The London stage production is produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy and the National Theatre in association with JAS Theatricals. The producers have also confirmed a first-ever UK and Ireland tour is planned.
