Madden trailer puts Nicolas Cage on the sideline as John Madden

Nicolas Cage straps on the headset as John Madden in Madden, the football biopic that has released its official trailer ahead of its November launch, as reported by Deadline. The film will play in select theatres from 11 November. It will then arrive on Prime Video streaming on 18 November, just seven days later.
A biopic, in plain terms, is a drama built around a real life. Here the subject is Madden: NFL coach, television broadcaster and namesake of EA's Madden video game franchise. The story includes his run that took the Oakland Raiders to the Super Bowl title in 1977. Prime Video summed up that three-part career as "Coach. Broadcaster. Innovator. Legend." in its 'Madden - Date Announce' video published on YouTube on 6 August.
Cage is surrounded by familiar faces. Christian Bale plays Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis. Sienna Miller plays Carol, the wife of Davis. Kathryn Hahn plays Virginia, the wife of Madden. John Mulaney plays Trip Hawkins, the founder of EA, with Shane Gillis also listed among the stars, according to Deadline.
The film is directed and co-written by David O. Russell. It is coming as an Amazon MGM release, as noted by IndieWire. An official trailer is usually the main full-length preview, longer than an early teaser, cut to show story, cast and tone. In this case it sets up the November rollout.
The release pattern is tight and simple. Select theatres means a limited cinema run, not everywhere at once, followed quickly by viewing at home through streaming. That seven-day gap is short by older standards. It gives keen cinema-goers a head start while keeping the streaming date close behind.
What makes this stand out is the span it tries to cover. One side is the touchline in the 1970s, with a coach and an owner trying to win. The other is the meeting room where a coaching name became a game title. Cage and Bale sit at the centre of that contrast, with two marriages alongside them and a tech founder bridging to the game era.
For fans, this means two entry points. Football followers get the Raiders years. Gamers get the origin of a franchise they know from the console. Cinema viewers get first look from 11 November. Everyone else can stream from 18 November.
