Tori Amos will publish a second children's book titled 'A Sorta Fairytale'. The news was reported by Rolling Stone on 24 September 2026. Pre-orders are listed as now available on Tori Amos.

The new book is a prequel to 'Tori and the Muses'. A prequel is a story set before the events of an earlier book. That earlier book was Amos's children's book debut. It went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

'Tori and the Muses' was published by Penguin Workshop, an imprint of Penguin Random House. An imprint is a specialist label within a larger publishing house. Amos had announced that first illustrated book for release on 4 March 2025, as reported by AP via WJHL.

'A Sorta Fairytale' goes back to the start of that story. It centres on an adventure to save the town of Rose Dover. Readers will meet returning characters Tori and the Muses. They are joined by animal friends from the Emerald Forest.

In the story, Tori sets out to free Rose Dover from an evil spell. The spell was cast by a character called Mr. Bad Man. She does not face him alone.

Tori works with the Friends of the Emerald Forest and the Muses. Together they build a special pink piano. The piano breaks the spell and lifts the darkness over the town. Music does the rescuing.

The book is illustrated by Demelsa Haughton. Haughton also illustrated 'Tori and the Muses'. That gives the two books a shared visual world for returning readers.

'A Sorta Fairytale' hits bookshelves on 6 April, according to the listing on Amos's official site. Pre-orders are open now through the same site. The listing does not give further sale details in the material confirmed so far.

For families, this means a familiar cast and a clear entry point. New readers can start here. Readers of the first book will see how Tori met her companions.
